In Australia Thanksgiving is celebrated as an opportunity rather than an event for the people to celebrate their blessings. There mission statement states.. “Thanking God…thanking each other.” It’s meant to show appreciation towards God and everyone else. Australians are all about thanking their community and citizens of the community on Thanksgiving Day. Also God, is the main reason for their celebration on Thanksgiving.
Many things that go viral are usually not the type of things that are particularly important. We see hubby’s such as cats looking ridiculous, or phrases that have no sense of serious meaning. There is a more comical aspect to many viral phenomenons. If we can get millions of individuals to look at silly things, why not bring their attention to a more serious matter. I believe I would choose something worth looking at when making a viral phenomenon. There are millions of things that should go viral, that are put on the back end. Us as apart of the digital community, need to see there are more important things that need to be said. There are things such as health scares, top news stories, or things we need to just plain know that can help make the world a better place rather than some silly photo or phrase.
The first seven weeks of this English class has been interesting. It has been interesting only because we have not written any major papers yet. I was expecting to have done at least three papers by now. I like the concept of knowing about Digital Literacy in this “English” class. It’s not your typical class where you write on different topics throughout the semester, but instead focusing on one topic and writing about the different aspects on that one topic (if that makes sense). I can’t wait to learn more about the digital world and how it pertains to literacy.
This book mainly talks about the connection between individuals when they are texting other than when they are in each others presence. When you are texting someone you don’t have to see that persons emotions when you send a text. People are so comfortable with texting because they can say things and not get an immediate reaction rather than if they were in person that reaction would be right away. Texting also can be a sense of relief for people who don’t want to conversation with that individual in person. As the book says, not too close and not too far away which basically means the people who are crying are at the perfect distance when conversing. Some feel like they can have a meaningful conversation without actually having that conversation in person, which can more likely cause problems within that relationship. People rely so much in texting, they don’t know they might be doing harm to the relationships they think are going great.
Hi Tootie, I’m writing this to you so you can understand the importance of online safety and what to do and what not to do. I’m telling you this because the online world is not easy. Being a digital citizen in an online community has it’s downfalls and it also has it’s good sides. I have to teach you about the importance of being online.
1. Know who your “friends” are.
2. Keep your privacy.
3. Be kind and respectful.
4. Use different passwords.
5. If in doubt, block.
1. Put private information online.
2. Be rude and disrespectful.
3. Reuse passwords.
4. Shop on sites that aren’t secure.
5. Don’t talk to people you don’t know.
I came across this shirt in one of the darkest times of my life. My car got stolen, my dog died, and I lost my job all in a matter of two days. Being depressed, I was searching random things and came across this shirt. Seeing what this shirt has done for others, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and bought it. When the delivery man rung my doorbell, I signed for it and as I looked down my car keys were laying in front of my doorstep. I thought to myself, this has to be only the beginning. Since then I’ve had 27 interviews and my mom surprised me with a new dog. This shirt has changed my life. Period.
